How to Use the Submission Manager Welcome! Memoir (and) is now accepting submissions for Spring+Summer 2010 (Vol. 2, No. 2). We look forward to receiving your prose, poetry, graphic memoirs or comix, experimental works, narrative photographs, audio memoirs and more. The reading period extends from 5/1/09 through 8/15/09. All submissions must be either uploaded to the Submission Manager by midnight PST, or sent by snail mail bearing a postmark of 8/15/09. An important reminder Authors must remove all identifying information from documents they submit. This does not include title or page numbers. It's kind of a pain, we know, but we do it for a reason. Part of our nonprofit mission is to offer the same opportunity to every author who submits, regardless of whether they've published in all the right places or never published at all. Our editors and readers engage in blind reading; in other words, we must be blind to authors' identities when we read submissions. This enables us to judge each piece based solely on its own merit. Please don't be concerned that your unidentified work might be mislaid. The Submission Manager is designed to keep your contact information firmly linked to your submission. We're serious! We're so committed to creating a level playing field that if we receive a document with an author's name on it, we'll politely return it and request that the author submit the same piece with the name removed. We really want to see your work--we're just really committed to giving everyone who submits an equal opportunity. If you'd like to include a personal statement, there's a comments field where you can include a note or cover letter. This will not be sent to readers. (Snail mail submitters who include a cover letter are assured the same confidentiality.) We look forward to reviewing your submissions! The Editors, Memoir (and) |
